a voix mâle et la prestance de l'un des plus grands barytons américains du 20e siècle en avaient fait l'interprète idéal des chansons de marins et autres ballades américaines. Un style jamais débraillé mais un art du chant et une subtilité qui servent au mieux ces pages joyeuses ou mélancoliques.
Excellente restauration d'enregistrement de 1947 à 1951.
